Would you Like to Get Involved More with LDEI-Atlanta?

Thank you for your interest in serving on the LDEI Atlanta Board of Directors! The Atlanta Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier is known for the excellence with which we achieve our organization’s mission. Our philanthropic achievements support the careers of women in the culinary arts and organizations that further a more sustainable world.  

Serving in a leadership capacity is a great way to get to know your fellow Dames and the inner workings of the organization, and it provides a valuable enhancement to your career. It can also lead to leadership positions within the International Organization's government.

All Board of Director (BoD) positions are open every year. Current board members must express their interest in serving for an additional year, but no more than two. All executive board members are required to attend a minimum of 75% of monthly board meetings, including the annual January strategic planning retreat, and a majority of chapter programs. Board positions include and entail:

  • President: Presides over meetings and functions of the Chapter and the Board of Directors; shall appoint committees and chairpersons as outlined in Article VII; and shall be responsible for liaison with the Society; for setting meeting agendas and for carrying out other operating guidelines as necessary to ensure a smooth functioning of the Chapter business and activities, in accordance with these By-Laws and the wishes of the Membership.

  • VP Communications: Serves as Board Liaison for all activities related to PR/Marketing, Website, Social Media and Tuesday Tidbits and will work closely with the Chair of the Communications Committee to oversee, advise, guide, direct and coordinate work in these areas, establish and Editorial Calendar or equivalent and maintain same, as well as any other tasks as may be deemed appropriate or necessary by the Board as directed by the Chapter President.

  • VP Programs: Serves as Board Liaison for Programs/Education Committee and its Chair/Co-chair, and will be responsible for overseeing, advising and coordinating the work of this committee and its subcommittees for Venue Selection, Food and Beverage Concept, Registration, Raffle Squad, and Meeting Content, as well as other tasks as may be deemed appropriate or necessary by the Board as directed by the Chapter President.

  • VP Philanthropy: Serves as Board Liaison for, and will establish the forms, procedures and protocol to create and maintain a Chapter philanthropy ‘season’, and will guide, delegate, manage, advise and oversee the works of the general Chapter charitable donations, which include: Scholarships/Grants Committee, AITC donation-directed earnings, Circle of Giving, The Brock Circle, Condolence Program, the Chapter’s existing beneficiaries, and any others as may be deemed appropriate or necessary by the Board as directed by the Chapter President.

  • VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Serves as Board liaison for issues related to membership diversity, leadership diversity and to cultivate a supportive and inclusive environment for our members. Responsibilities include helping the Board craft fair policies, implementing inclusion programs and providing education to our members around issues of diversity, equity and inclusion.

  • VP of Member Engagement: Serve as Board liaison for issues related to ensuring all members being actively engaged, valued and supported by the organization. Responsibilities include building the best member experience possible through personal outreach, identifying and utilizing individual skills and ensuring that members are able to engage and participate without barriers.

  • Secretary: Shall be responsible for maintaining the official membership list and for updating this list immediately upon receipt of written notification of changes in address and/or telephone numbers from any members; for maintaining minutes of the business meetings and Board actions; for providing mailing lists of members to committees; for preparing and distributing written notices of business meetings, including summaries of policies, recommendations, or issues to be voted on at such meetings; for handling general correspondence of the Chapter as directed by the Board; and for officially counting any votes by the Membership. In the temporary absence of the President and the Vice-Presidents, the Secretary shall act in the President’s stead. The Secretary shall be expected to comply immediately with any Member’s written request to the Board for a copy of the minutes of any meeting or Board action.

  • Treasurer: Shall be responsible for collecting and disbursing Chapter funds as directed by the Board; for maintaining bank accounts and all official financial records of the Chapter; for preparing and distributing dues notices; for preparing for the Board a preliminary budget for the year and for preparing and presenting updates as budgets for events are determined; and for preparing and presenting a Treasurer’s Report at the annual fall business meeting. The Treasurer shall be expected to comply immediately with any Member’s written request to the Board for a report of the Chapter’s financial status and/or expenditures. The Treasurer shall be responsible for sending the letter of condolence and money to the charity of Dames choice in a timely manner.

Ideal candidates will be a LDEI member in good standing and possess the experience, relevant skills or equivalent for the role that they are being nominated for. There is no minimum membership tenure requirement.
