Annual Dinner & A Movie!

Save the Date for Our Annual Dinner & A Movie!

Join your fellow Dames on Tuesday, March 24, at Kimball Hall in Roswell for our annual Dinner & A Movie. Our wonderful Dame Cathy Conway and her team at Avalon Catering will be providing a buffet meal to go with this year’s film. In fact, we’ll be watching two movies this year:

CUD, a 2009 co-production by the University of Mississippi’s Media & Documentary Projects Center & the Southern Foodways Alliance, is a documentary film by Joe York that profiles Georgia cattleman Will Harris. The film was screened around the world, including at the Atlanta Film Festival, the Going Green Film Festival in LA and the Reel Earth Film Festival in New Zealand. It was also nominated for the Chipotle Food that Matters Prize.

Then we’ll see HOMEPLACE, a 2019 film that celebrates farmer and Dame Jenni Harris. Jenni is the fifth generation to farm the land at White Oak Pastures in Bluffton Georgia. For 147 years, the land has been worked by the Harris family. But this is no ordinary farm. See how she and her family have transformed the farm, which has cattle, chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits and an organic vegetable garden, into a truly sustainable business.

There will also be a Q&A moderated by Pulitzer Prize-winning New York Times journalist Kim Severson following the films. This event is BYOB, so please bring your own wine to enjoy!
